Our Chapter History

The Oceanside Chapter was organized on September 28, 1929, with a membership of 20 women, and renamed the Santa Margarita Chapter in 1972.

Today we are an active Sisterhood of about 86 dedicated women of all ages and backgrounds. By combining our resources, talents, and life experiences, we work together for the growth and well-being of our Chapter and each other.

Since 1890, members of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution have dedicated themselves to goals as relevant now as they were then: historical preservation, promotion of education, and encouragement of patriotic endeavor.

Our Vision

Our Sisterhood is looking toward the future while working in the present. Our up-to-date website, online newsletters, and email communiqus keep us on the leading edge of technology, and we include those members who are not comfortable with technology via telephone and postal mail.

We support the National Society's motto of "God, Home and Country," and its goals to Promote Education, Preserve History, Inspire Patriotism, and Foster Love of Country. We support our right to Freedom of Religion, and dispute those who promulgate Freedom from Religion.

We support our local schools with various awards as well as copies of the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and Flag protocol. We support DAR schools in the Appalachians, and contribute annually to Toys For Tots.

Our annual Constitution Week celebrations include placing posters in local libraries and storefronts, and receiving Proclamations from our local City Councils.

We preserve the past through our Society's traditional lineage, conservation, history, education, and commemorative activities, and also support the present, e.g., the current, military undertaking.

We support our military, their families, and our veterans. Members have knitted and crocheted dozens of lap robes for local veterans.

We enjoy both a gratifying sense of pride in our sisters' contributions to our national heritage and the opportunity to serve our country in significant ways today.

We offer more than membership--we offer friendship and participation. Won't you join us?
